Piwakawaka - Life in lockdown

Piwakawaka have been working extra hard in lockdown. We have been having some really fun Zoom meetings and have been doing lots of exciting activities. Below you will see different examples of some of the things we have been doing. Enjoy!

Sasha accepted the challenge of building a 'shoe tower'. He was able to get the most shoes to stay in a pile without falling. He wasn't allowed anything except shoes!
We have been so happy with the packs we received from the Ministry. They were full of goodies. Theo has been working really hard in the Social Studies workbook. Here is a picture of all the people in his family.
JJ has been coming to every Zoom meeting and working really hard to complete the activities. Here is some of his Maths work. Super addition JJ.
Kavish accepted the challenge of the 'Active Scavenger Hunt', he had to go for a walk and complete different activities. Check out his pic collage - he rocked it!
Richie invented her own Scavenger Hunt. When she went for her walk, she took photos of all the things she could see. So many different things in one walk!
Alba lost her tooth during lockdown. Look at that smile now!
Lucas did a great job during our 'yellow day'. One of the challenges was to make the letter Y with your body. Can everyone see Luca's Y?

We supported Daffodil day at our school. Mason and Nate both made fabulous photos to put in their windows. This encouraged people to donate money to this special cause. Ka pai you two.
It has great to see the children doing things around the house to help their whanau. Freddie and his brother have been painting the deck!
One of the things we have been asking children to do is read, read, read - every day if they can. Here is Oliver reading to all his soft toys. They look like they love this story.
Bella draw a detailed self portrait. She then used pictures and words to show all the things she liked. It was great to see so much information in her work.

Olivia and Olivia took up this challenge with a shine. Can you write your name using Lego. The children all used such creative ways to make their names. Can you see their names?
Check out our Zoom faces!
Leo and Maria both took up the Fitness Challenge. Check the videos they made. They will definitely be getting fit this lockdown.

  2. Kia Ora Piwakawaka! What super activities you have been doing! Ka pai. I love them all. Super fitness ideas, Maria and Leo. I’m going to try some now. Then I’ll make my name with Lego. After that I’m going to read to my soft toy, it’s a pukeko. Well done to be so busy and creative in lockdown. Keep up your awesome work.

  3. Kia ora Te Kohanga Ako. Wow, you sure have been busy. It's great to get outside isn't it, whether it's for fitness or to help with jobs like painting. But staying inside and reading also sounds fun, what a cool idea to read to your toys. Keep up the amazing mahi!
