Daffodil Day in Lockdown

This year we were in Lockdown for Daffodil Day. Piwakawaka decided that since it would be difficult to collect money this year for the Cancer Society, we would do something to help. We each made a poster with the website on it where people could make a donation. We then displayed these in our windows. Have a look.

Kakapo's Very Busy Week 2 of Lockdown

Kakapo has been really busy with our online learning. We have read books and watched videos about the sun. As part of our Inquiry learning, we wanted to know more about the sun. We learnt some really new, exciting and important facts about the sun.

Then we decide to write an information report about it. Our Success Criteria was to include- a title, an introduction, list of facts and a conclusion.

We planned our writing on the first day and then wrote our report on the next day.

Daffodil Day is the Cancer Society's biggest fundraising event. Unfortunately because of the lockdown, they had to cancel this. But there are so many different ways to show our support. We choose to draw some daffodils and display them on our windows and ask people to make a donation on the Cancer Society website.

Week T3 Week 5 Kereru Lockdown Learning

Kia ora, Welcome, Greetings, Namaste, Talofa, Malo, Salaam, Ni hao

Kererū have been very busy, while Auckland has been in lockdown.

I am incredibly proud of all the amazing work that has been done by all of the tamariki!

At the beginning of the week we listened to the teddy bears picnic song while having a picnic with our teddies. Our first activity was to use our imagination and draw our teddy having a picnic.

Have a look at our awesome work!!

Wow, Sione look at all your, work! You have been incredibly busy this week!!

We looked at these fantastic teddies that Ms Sands drew for her grandchildren. We really liked how each teddy bear had the first initials of her grandchildren's name on their tummies.

We had a go at doing something similar.

Whaea Anita read a story called "OH ME OH MY!",

written by Jill Eggleton, illustrated by Richard Holt

It had been raining for days and days. Owl, who knew everything, said, "The sun has fallen from the sky."

"Oh me, oh my, oh me, oh my.

The sun has fallen from the sky!"

said Parrot and Elephant.  So off they went to find the sun...

Our activity was to draw the parrot and then write a sentence using words that describe what the parrot looks like.

Check out our amazing parrots and describing words!!
