Autumn Poems

Piwakawaka and Kakapo loves the autumn season. We read books and watched some videos on autumn. Next we wrote an information report about autumn. After that we decide to use the information we had gathered to write some poems about autumn. Finally we used real dried and presses autumn leaves to make a frame to put our published autumn poem on. We really enjoyed doing this activity.

Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day was started in 2007 by two Canadian students. A friend of theirs was bullied by other students in the school for wearing the colour pink. They decided to take a stand against bullying. The boys bought dozens of pink shirts and distributed them to their friends and asked them to wear the shirts the next day.

Since then Pink Shirt Day has become a movement right across the globe. We wore something pink on Anti- Bullying Day and we created some pink t-shirts as well. We drew some pictures and wrote a message on them.

A Digital Space

Kakapo and Piwakawaka are digital classrooms. We use the iPads in different ways to help our learning. The app we use is called Explain Everything. Above you will see it used in Cybersmart, Phonics and Maths. This is just a snapshot of what we have been doing. We will share more over the coming weeks.

2021 Te Kohanga Ako

Welcome to Te Kohanga Ako. We have been a bit slow off the ground with our blog this year! But we are starting now. Each week a different class will post something up on the blog, and then Seesaw you the link. Enjoy sharing our learning with us, and feel free to leave a comment!

Daffodil Day in Lockdown

This year we were in Lockdown for Daffodil Day. Piwakawaka decided that since it would be difficult to collect money this year for the Cancer Society, we would do something to help. We each made a poster with the website on it where people could make a donation. We then displayed these in our windows. Have a look.
