West Lynn Garden and Olmpic Park Trip

As part of Inquiry , the teachers planned a trip for the Junior School to West Lynn Garden and Olympic park. We were supposed to go in Week 2 of the term but it was postponed to Week 7 due to bad weather. Kakapo and Toutouwai went together to the garden and park yesterday. We had an awesome day. The weather was beautiful.

The teachers had organised some activities for us to complete at the garden. We got to go on a scavenger hunt looking for some things that we had to find and tick off on a sheet and we did some Mindfulness activities with Whaea Anita. We also had to think about what being at a garden full of plants and nature do for our hauora. We had a white frame to take a photo of our most favourite part or plant in the garden.

To finish of the day we went to Olympic Park where we ate our lunch first and then we got to play and have fun in the playground. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who came with us. This trip would not have happened without your support.

School Fence Cultural People

After weeks of sketching, colouring, transferring our designs and finally painting, our cultural fence people were put up on the school fence by the playground. Each classroom was assigned a boy and a girl from two different cultures represented in our school. Kakapo had South African girl and Pakistani boy. Piwakawaka had New Zealand European boy and Niuean girl. Both classes worked together to paint these four and we had so much fun doing them. The whole school got together to make the big reveal for our school community to see them.
