Gymnastics

Our Kiwi Sport focus this term is Gymnastics. The Juniors will have their sessions on every Tuesday in the school hall. Our coach this year is Catherine. We had an awesome first session with her on Tuesday. She showed us lots of warmup activities to do to get our bodies ready to do gymnastic moves. We had so much fun and are looking forward to the rest of our sessions. Kakapo is very eager to learn new moves.

All about sound

Kererū Lockdown Learning
Welcome to Week 5
Nau mai, Haere mai
We have been super busy this week.

At the start of the week, Kererū listened to a book which was called 'All About Sound', written by Lisa Trumbauer.
We found out how sounds were created, how they travel and how it is heard.

Our first activity was to look around our house and find 4 things that can make sounds and draw them.  Next we had to go outside and listen for 4 different sounds we could hear, and then draw them.
Have a look at our 'Sounds' we can hear and make.
Both Miss Veldon and I are very proud of Kererū, with their great participation during our zoom meetings and their amazing work that they have been sending in...

Let's have a look at the sounds we can hear and make

Our HEROS
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your amazing support through out our online distance learning, while Aotearoa has been in lockdown. Both Miss Veldon and I would have not been able to run our successful programme if it was not for all your hard work from home.

Rain! Rain! Rain! and Sounds around us

This was Science Week. We watched a video about rain. It was about why rain is important for all living things on Planet Earth and what happens when there is too much rain and there is no rain. We then went on to discuss the strange phrase, 'it's raining cats and dogs'. We decided to create new ones with animals of our own choice.

Ella says, "It's raining snakes and fish.
Francis' phrase is 'it's raining horses and turtles.

Jas says it's raining cats and dogs but the rain is red.

Micah's phrase is 'it's raining elephants and butterflies.

Mustafa's raining butterflies and jellyfish.

Viaan's phrase is- it's raining lions and cats

We also looked at the different ways sound is made and how it can travel, even through walls. As a followup activity, we had to close our eyes and focus on listening to five different sounds that we could hear.

Kakapo's Very Very Busy Week of Learning

We have done lots of work this week. We started of by making a Mother's Day card for our mums. We knew we had to make the day extra special because we couldn't go out to buy presents.  Have a look at the cards that we made. Some of us made two cards.

Krish made two beautiful cards for his mum.

Mustafa drew his supermum and a unicorn on his.

Risha made a card. She and her sister prepared a special breakfast for their mum too.

Ella and her sister made flowers to give to their grandma for Mother's Day.

Micah's mum loved the card that he made for her.
