MORE AND MORE LEARNING FROM PIWAKAWAKA......

We have been busy, busy this week in Piwakawaka. I have been so proud of the children who have been making, creating, writing, imagining...all while at home. Have a look at some of the things we have been doing this week.

1. Car Safety when coming back to school - we had to invent a vehicle to get us to school safely. Look at this imagination.

2.  Art Hub for Kids - we found a great site on You Tube which taught us how to draw different things.

3.Reading Response
We read Greedy Cat together and then we could choose a way to respond to the story.

Olivia retold the story in her own words.

Maxwell wrote a new ending to the story

Beckett did a character description about Greedy Cat

Charlie H wrote a new ending for the story.
Leeya wrote a new ending for the story

4. Design a home or a bed for a soft toy or animal

Christopher designed a house for his toys.

Leeya designed a bed for her soft toys.
Quentin designed a bed for his monkey.

Wow Stellan. He designed a whole tiger lair for his toys.

Freddie used his drawers to make a bed for his toys.

5. Scavenger Hunt - we borrowed the Scavenger Hunt idea off Kereru, it was really fun.

Here is the things we had to find.

  1. Piwakwaka, I really enjoyed looking at all your transport to school creations. I would like the bright colours, boat and flying additions to my transport. Plus lots of extra seating! Your imagination is growing - what a lot of different beds and homes for your toys.
I am sure it took you a long time to do your pictures and after lockdown, I hope you teach me how to draw such amazing pictures.
I found your Greedy Cat stories very entertaining; I have finished all my reading books at home and I am looking forward to reading more of your stories next week.
Thank you for sharing your work and ideas. I would like you to send me a scavenger hunt to do at home. Keep up your fabulous learning!

  3. Hi piwakawaka. What a busy bunch of boys and girls you have been! I loved your vehicles and all the different ways you showed them to us. There were drawings, Lego cars, cars made with objects at home and even a fruit one. What amazing imaginations you all have! I think if I had to invent a vehicle to take me to school, it would be one that drove itself and I could sit and relax while it got me to school safely.
I see you have been experimenting with Art Hub too. It is a fabulous way to learn to draw super pictures. I am not a good drawer, you will know that from when I've been in your class! I tried Art Hub and I was so proud of my picture! Doing it step by step is great.
You have been busy also creating comfy beds for your toys. I wonder if they helped your toy to sleep soundly? I wonder if your toys watched you doing your schoolwork when they weren't in bed asleep? They would have been so impressed at how well you are doing, just like I am. Keep up the amazing work Piwakawaka and I will see you back at school soon.

  4. Morning Piwakawaka,
Once again you have been busy bees during lockdown. Miss Lane has been coming up with some great fun activities. I loved seeing all your art work. We love watching the Art Hub YouTube channel. Your car creations were all very creative. I love how everyone had something different. And the same with your scavenger hunts. You all found different items around your house. I love how you are all letting your imaginations come through your learning.
I am looking forward to see what exciting activities Miss Lane has planned for this week.

  5. My goodness Piwakawaka what a busy week you have had. You have all been doing wonderful learning at home. I especially enjoyed seeing the vehicles you made. It made me think back to when I was your age (a VERY long time ago) when my sister and I made sand cars at the beach. It was great fun inventing new ideas and I can see that you have been doing that too! Maybe when we get back to school we can make some in our sand pit?
Greedy Cat is one of my favourite stories and I enjoyed reading yours and seeing your fabulous drawing. Keep up the great work. I’m sure Miss Lane has some exciting things in store for you this week. Hope to see you all soon.
