ANZAC DAY

On Friday we listened to the story Anzac Ted on YouTube. We wanted to commemorate ANZAC Day by making some poppies. Kakapo had to be creative and think of how to do this with just what we had at home. We could use magazine pages, colour pencils, crayons, paint or real leaves. We had so much fun. A big thank you to our mums, dads and brothers and sisters for helping us.  Some of us baked some Anzac and chocolate cookies too but they were all eaten before we could take any photos. Thank you Shorya for sharing the recipe.

Alisha's bright red poppy

Amir's bouquet of three lovely poppies.

Look at the beautiful message on Gabriel picture.

What do you think Krish used to make the stem?

Mustafa's poppy is swaying merrily in a field.

Even Batman (aka Ryan) made a poppy.

Saber's well coloured poppy

Well done Viaan for using things in from the garden to make this collage.

  2. Hi Kakapo,
What beautiful poppies you all made. You were very clever at finding things at home to use and they have made great decorations for ANZAC Day. I made some paper poppies too and put them in the window with my teddies. Also I made a wreath to hang beside my letterbox for our streets ANZAC service. We all got up early (6am!!) and had our own little remembrance service. The national anthem was played, we read the ode and listened to Jacinda,s speach.
Do you know what a wreath is? Or what the ode is? Try to find out... your challenge for today🤔
I will email Mrs Rai some photos to share with you. I really enjoy seeing the photos of all the wonderful learning you are doing so keep up the good work. Stay safe in your bubble.

    1. A slide about how the poppies were made would be a good idea Chantz, thank you for the suggestion. Maybe next time you post a comment on someone's blog, you could include a link to your blog so that they can see the awesome work that you've been doing during Lockdown and Level 3.

  5. I loved all the poppy designs that you made; I wonder if any of you put them in your windows for anyone walking by to enjoy. Alisha, your poppy had a beautiful curvy shape; Amir, you made lots of poppies for all the family; Gabriel your message for New Zealand made me smile; Krish your strong green stem looked real; Mustafa, I loved the way your poppy was in a field where wild poppies grow; Ryan I really admired the design of your petals and stem; Saber the colour of your poppy was a vibrant bright red; Viaan, I thought your real leaves made your poppy picture very interesting. All of you have worked very hard to create such amazing poppies. What a beautiful way to remember Anzac Day!
