Theo did a WONDERFUL job searching for the all items on our Scavenger hunt!! On Friday we read |
This is story of a little boy’s teddy bear that was passed down to him from his grandfather. Battered, torn, missing an eye and an ear, he might look scary but he’s got a great story to tell. For Anzac Ted went to war, keeping soldiers company and giving them comfort. And while he never won a medal, and now doesn’t even attract a single vote at classroom Toy Shows, if only everyone looked a little deeper: ‘They’d see a hero, plain as day Who sits upon my bed. A hero, who saved me and you. His name … is Anzac Ted’
In honour of our fallen soldiers that gave their lives and fought for our freedom,
Kereru created some poppies, using materials, that we had at home. Once we finished them we hung them on our windows. Have a look at our poppies.
Olivia Y, Super impressive poppy!
Well Done Sarah you have made a FANTASTIC poppy.
Bella and her dad made an AWESOME poppy together.
I really like the hearts on the stem of your poppy Bella
Lucas, you did a MARVELLOUS job of following all the steps to make his poppy
Ka rawe
Hi Kerri,
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful learning you have been doing at home.
I especially enjoyed seeing the poppies you made for ANZAC Day. Anzac Ted is one of my favourite stories. He looks a bit like my teddy who is also very old ( as old as me!) I made some poppies for my window too. Then I made a wreath from plants that were in my garden. Do you know what a wreath is? Maybe you can ask someone at home. All our neighbours came to their letterboxes at 6 am for our little Anzac service. It was very different for us because we usually go to the dawn parade at the museum. Then afterwards we have McDonald’s for breakfast! But this year I had to make our special breakfast.
Keep up the great work at home. Be kind to your whanau. Stay safe in your bubble.

Wow you guys found lots of items on the scavenger hunt. Maybe I need to do one for everyone in my bubble. I love the poppies too. I like how everyone's poppy looks a little bit different, just like real flowers! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteHi Kereru, a letter scavenger hunt sounds like heaps of fun! I love your wonderful photos showing all the objects you found. How clever you all are. You are bright shining stars.
ReplyDeleteYou read the book 'ANZAC Ted'. I love that story, but it does make me cry a wee bit because it has a very special message in it. Poor old NZAC Ted is all battered because he was so loved by different people as he was passed down from grandad. I had a teddy when I was little and I still have him. His arem had to be fixed and he only has one eye but he is very special, but not as special as ANZAC Ted! I loved seeing all the super poppies you all made. So many houses in my neighbourhood had poppy pictures and poppies children had made and put in the windows for us all to enjoy.
Keep up the awesome work Kereru

ReplyDeleteOh that would be fun for the teachers! I like your idea. Thanks for commenting on this post :-)
DeleteKereru, you did an amazing job finding things around your homes and gardens beginning with 's', 'a', 't' and 'i'. The scavenger hunt looked like lots of fun; I think some of you spent a long time discovering so many interesting objects.
ReplyDeleteYour poppies were fabulous. Olivia, I liked your poppy's green rectangle stem; Bella I liked your bright red petals; Lucas I liked the way you stuck down your petals so carefully; Sarah your poppy was enormous; Ryan you showed the steps very carefully - next year I will know how to make them. Great job everybody. Keep up your astounding work. I can't wait to see what you do next on the blog.
