Kakapo Week Three Learning

This week Kakapo read the book Little Dan. He wanted to be able to fly so much that he kept on trying since he was a baby. Finally on his tenth birthday, he got such a wonderful present from his grandpa. It was a flying suit with a special hat that had a propeller. When Dan put it on, he could fly. We did a recount of the story.

Ella has used time connectives to sequence the events and  has also illustrated beautifully. She has used the Casey Caterpillar shapes when writing the words. Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing, Ella!

Can you identify the time connectives that Gina has used in her writing?

Well done Saber for including all the events that happened in the story.

We also decided to have a scavenger hunt. Thank you Whaea Anita for sharing your great idea. We had so much fun looking for the things. Here is the list of things that we had to find.

And finally we had a Wacky and Fun Friday Zoom session. We could choose to dress up in costumes and anything wacky that we could think of. Look at some of our out of the box ideas.

  1. Hi Kakapo, I πŸ’–LOVEπŸ’– these ideas. The events you guys came up with are very creative. I really like the recounts you guys wrote, you guys are like authors! That scavenger hunt might give my class an idea of what to do. I can see that the Kakapo students got great objects to complete the scavenger hunt. 2. Hi Kakapo,
What great fun and learning you are all doing at home! I am very impressed with your writing. You had listened carefully to Mrs Rai and had obviously enjoyed the story. What fun it would be to have a flying suit! I wonder what adventures you would like to go on if you had one?
You also had fun thinking about your costumes for dress up day. I saw some very creative thinking. It looked like lots of fun. Maybe the teachers should dress up for their next zoom staff meeting?
Keep up the great learning. Stay safe in your bubble and be kind to your Whanau.

  5. Kakapo, I loved reading your recounts about Dan the flying man; what great sequencing and time connectives. Your pictures looked very realistic. I wonder what invention you would like on your 10th birthday and what you would suddenly be able to do?
Your scavenger hunt pictures were very interesting. What a lot of different properties and colours for you to discover amongst the objects at home. Everyone chose different objects.
Wacky dress up day made me smile; lots of wacky headwear and hairstyles; I especially enjoyed the pegs in the hair and the pillow-tummy. Keep up your astounding work Kakapo. I look forward to seeing your next posts.
